The Bal va Mahila Chetna Samiti organized a workshop for Anganwadi workers in the Gandhinagar area on the subject of “Women’s Legal Rights.” The objective of this initiative was to empower Anganwadi workers—who operate at the grassroots level—by providing them with knowledge regarding laws pertinent to women, thereby enabling them to offer accurate guidance to the women within their respective areas.
The organization’s President, Tara Ahluwalia, stated that retired Judge Shivkumar Sharma attended the workshop as the keynote speaker. He shared detailed information on critical topics such as the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005; women’s constitutional rights; and protection against sexual harassment in the workplace. Through simple examples, he illustrated how women can understand their rights and utilize them effectively.

Appreciating the role of Anganwadi workers, Tara Ahluwalia remarked that they serve as a vital link reaching the farthest corners of society; consequently, their heightened awareness can positively impact the lives of numerous women. The participants emphasized the need for the continuous organization of such workshops, noting that they foster both awareness and self-confidence among women. The organization’s volunteers—Parmesh, Bhawana, and Vishal—along with Fellows Afroz, Yasmin, and Farida, as well as Women Supervisor Yasmin, made significant contributions toward making this event a success.
