Under the joint aegis of the Bal Va Mahila Chetna Samiti and ‘Direct Action for Women Now’ (DAWN), an awareness workshop on the subject of gender equality was organized for students at the Government Senior Secondary School, Kunwaliya.

The program commenced with the welcoming and introduction of the guests by the school’s Physical Education Teacher, Lalit Singh Panwar. Emphasizing the critical importance of this subject for students, he expressed his gratitude to the organizing committee.

In her brief address, the organization’s President, Tara Ahluwalia, stated that it is essential to cultivate an understanding of gender equality during adolescence itself, so that children may go on to build a sensitive and egalitarian society.
During the workshop, Shashi Prabha—a resource person from Udaipur—explained the concept of gender in detail and in simple language, using examples drawn from daily life. She highlighted how subtle forms of discrimination between boys and girls within the home, school, and society can eventually evolve into significant inequalities. She discussed in depth topics such as the division of labor, educational opportunities, decision-making rights, and societal mindsets, further elucidating the subject through interactive games and role-playing activities. The students also participated enthusiastically in the discussions and shared their own perspectives.
Present on this occasion were the entire school staff, along with representatives from the organization, including Shyam Lal, Bhawana, and Parmesh.
