On December 20, 2025, a gender awareness workshop was jointly organized by Bal Va Mahila Chetna Samiti and Direct Action for Women Now at Vidya Professional and Technical College. The objective of the workshop was to sensitize students to gender issues and promote equality, respect, and social responsibility.
Addressing the participants, Ms. Tara Ahluwalia, President of the organization, emphasized that true equality in society can only be achieved when young people are taught from an early age to clearly understand the difference between sex and gender. She explained that gender is not limited to biological identity but is deeply connected to social thinking, behavior, and access to opportunities. She further stated that nurturing values of equality, respect, and sensitivity among youth can significantly reduce issues such as discrimination, violence, and inequality in society.

The resource person from Udaipur, Ms. Shashi Prabha, explained the concepts of sex and gender in a very simple, engaging, and practical manner. Through everyday life situations, family examples, and social experiences, she highlighted how society assigns different roles to boys and girls. She encouraged students to think critically and question whether these roles are natural or socially constructed.

Expressing her gratitude to the organizing institutions, Ms. Geeta Chaudhary, Director of the college, stated that such workshops are extremely important for the overall personality development of students. She added that these initiatives help inculcate values of sensitivity, equality, and social responsibility among young people.
