A one day workshop on child marriage, Naata Pratha, Aata-Sata, Kukdi Pratha and dowry system was organized in Akodiya village under the joint aegis of Bal va Mahila Chetna Samiti and Direct Action for Women Now

 

Committee President Tara Ahluwalia said that women, young girls, school students and married women suffering from child marriage, Aata-Sata and Naata Pratha participated in the workshop. Karuna Phillips, who came from Ajmer as a reference person, told the participants present in the workshop in detail about child marriage, Aata-Sata and Naata Pratha. Activities were also conducted in the workshop by forming different groups, in which it came out that – due to child marriage, girls are not able to study much. Due to becoming mothers at a young age, they have to undergo many types of physical diseases. Aata-Sata and Naata Pratha have a negative impact on the married life of women, due to which the women society gets backward. In his address, Ahluwalia said that to eliminate all these social evils like child marriage, Naata Pratha, Aata-Sata, Kukdi and dowry system, it is necessary that maximum educational opportunities should be given to girls.
