
Bal va Mahila Chetna Samiti organized a “Women’s Leadership Festival” to mark the completion of 33 years and the beginning of its 34th year of operation. Women from across the district, social activists, and representatives from various organizations participated in the event.
Organization President Tara Ahluwalia stated that the event provided a platform for women who had raised their voices and fought against domestic violence, violence related to witchcraft accusations, and harmful social practices. The organization’s 33-year journey was showcased through an exhibition, which was inaugurated by the chief guest, retired Judge Shiv Kumar Sharma.

During the event, women shared stories of their struggles and empowerment. Cultural performances were presented by Manu Kanwar, Sneha, and Kriti Singh, while Pragya Sen recited poetry and delivered a talk on issues concerning violence against women. A short play was also performed by the organization’s female activists. Participants took selfies at a designated stand featuring the slogan “Saho Nahi, Kaho” (Don’t Endure, Speak Up).
In her address, Tara Ahluwalia remarked that the organization’s 33-year journey has been one defined by women’s struggles and leadership, and affirmed that the organization would continue to work for women’s rights and empowerment in the future.
Chief guest and retired Judge Shiv Kumar Sharma stated that real societal change is possible only through women’s participation and leadership. He commended the organization’s grassroots work.
Pragya, a researcher on violence against women from Delhi, encouraged and motivated the participating women.
