A one-day awareness workshop on the prevention of gender-based violence was organized for adolescent girls at the Government Senior Secondary School, Rupaheli, under the joint aegis of Bal Va Mahila Chetna Samiti and Crea.
Organization President Tara Ahluwalia stated that the workshop aimed to raise awareness among adolescent girls regarding gender-based discrimination, the various forms and causes of violence, and methods of prevention. Through creative activities and dialogue, the girls shared their experiences and sought to understand how discrimination can lead to violence. Subject expert Shashi Prabha discussed the prevention of gender-based violence and efforts regarding the rights of children and women in an accessible and interactive manner. She explained that gender-based discrimination is not limited to violence alone but also impacts girls’ access to education, freedom, decision-making, and equal opportunities. She encouraged the girls to remain aware of their rights and to speak up against any form of violence or discrimination, explaining the subject matter through games and group discussions.

School Principal Ratan Lal Khatik praised the workshop, noting that such interactive sessions on crucial topics like gender play a vital role in strengthening the self-confidence and understanding of adolescent girls.
The girls participated actively in the workshop, sharing their questions and views.
School staff member Chanda Sharma, Crea project coordinator Bhawana Joshi, and organization staff Shyam Lal, Preeti, Aahuti, Rinku Kanwar, Parmesh, and Vishal were present during the workshop.
